More bumper-work

Yesterday I was up in the unit (unexpected) so I decided to use the time up there and do a bit of stuff.

I've had a look at the bumpers again and was able to ask for more help and advise, for the next steps :D
I already have an idea how to use the filler and all but I will also make a few "look"- changes to the bumpers so I also have to work with fibre-glass and that is new to me (again).

I cut off  a few parts of 2 bumpers, that was actually only a 5 minute job.
Suprisingly I didn't cut my own fingers off, yaaaay!
Really must get used to all those machines!! haha

Anyway, after Tuesday there shall be more work going on, just thought I keep you updated. :)

Saturday 28 December 2013

Sanded down!

I have to say....I'm kinda proud of myself! :D
I managed to sand down the bumpers (only a little bit left, have to do it by hand), without hurting myself or braking the sanding machine :)

That is probably nothing special but I'm happy and have the bumpers now ready for repair!

There will be way more to come, especially after this (crappy) year is over!

I cant wait to see my car back on the road :D

Bodykit

I dont know why, but for some weird reason I always need to pressure myself first, before I actually get stuff done.... is it only me or is that a common thing?

Anyway...

It's almost Christmas and the end of the year again.

I haven't done much since my last update, maybe a bit of cleaning or tiding but nothing big really.

I will start working on the exterior now and one thing that bothers me for ages, is my bodykit.
Well the bodykit of my S14 of course :)

I have 2 rear bumpers, skirts and one front bumper.
And I still dont know what look I'm going for.
Will I go for the Vertex kit, like the one my car came with, or will I try something else?

I normally always do "something else", because I hate "mainstream" stuff, even though Vertex looks good on my car ha.

I got a standard front bumper and rear bumper and I think I will try to pull it off that way.

There is also the fact, that I dont have vertex front bumper at the moment.

So I decided to simply try it and start with the standard kit.

The thing is, that I have to get them sprayed, so that is my next goal.

I'm going to find out the paintcode of Nessy and spray the bodykit.
I wont spray it on my own, but I might found someone who can do it :)

Yesterday I also learned, how to sand the bumpers down. With a machine!
How awesome is that?

I started already with sanding down the bumper by hand, but of course that is a bit of a pain.
Therefore I was very happy that I was able to borrow the sanding machine and also got shown how to use it!
(Thanks again Chris!)

I got a few "before" pictures to show what kind of work I'm going to do.

I'm very excited about it, for some reason this is loads of fun :D

Later on I'll drive down to the unit again to finish the bumpers because we got only one done yesterday night.

Yaaaaaay!

So before this year ends, the bodykit will be all sanded down and ready for repair, primer and paint :D

R.I.P Paul Walker :(

As probably everybody knows by now, Paul Walker died in a car crash a few days ago.

Many other car-enthusiasts can relate to him and the Fast & Furious movies or got influenced by it.

When I saw the news, it made me incredible sad as the movies (and the actors) influenced me a lot. They were one of the reasons why I finally started drifting...especially after the fifth movie.

Paul Walker was not only a genuine person, he also did help so many people with his organization "We reach the world".

I came across a new and very well-done tribute video which I would like to share:

Halloween!

Its been a year since I was out on track with my car Nessy!

Thats a picture form Tynagh last year, I even put some Halloween decoration on ha

Its amazing how fast time is flying, especially if you enjoy doing your life/hobbies/project/etc.

Two days ago I was up in the unit again and the time just flew by.
I'm at least always 4-5 hours up even though it feels like only one!

I'm not fully finished with everything I wanted to to within my 3 months plan :( Only a little is left, so that should be done soon enough!

Wednesday 16 October 2013

what is left to do?

If you followed my previous posts, you might understand why I will write following now.

Until the end of October I have following stuff left to do:

- get a new gasket
- get 2 horns (1 standard, 1 funny one)
- might get new power steering pump
- fit turbo timer
- fix/fix dump valve
- fit killswitch
- fit liquid bottle for windscreen stuff

Christ some list, and its the 16th already!

Lets see what I can get done :)

Wash and polish

She got a good wash (actually 3!) and a sweet nice polish :)

The pics dont really show how good it looks but for now she sits all cleaned up (finally) in the unit and awaits more stuff done to her :D

More updates to follow!

Tuesday 8 October 2013

she's alive!

Yesterday was a good (and long) day in the unit again.
After I collected everything I needed (still more stuff to get) and did what I wanted to do, I put back together a few parts, to start her up again. (big thanks to my other half)

So after 9 months I finally heard her lovely roaring again!
YAAAAY

I was so happy (and very unpatient), it took as a good while to jump start the oul, dead battery.

My 3-months plan will end this month, a bit of work is left to do.

Tomorrow she will get a gooooood clean/wash and polish so that she looks like a nice car again. All the dust and dirt from the last track day are still on her :O

But this will change and hopefully I can provide you with a few nice pics tomorrow!

I also cant wait to present you my list and archievment at the end of the month (regarding the 3 month plan).

When do I finally learn to get patient.....

About Nessy's history

Recently I found out (thanks to Declan!!), who owned my S14 in Ireland before me. I can basically recall now who the owners were and what happened to the car.
I always thought she came with her original SR20DET engine but I was wrong.
Appreantly she arrived in Ireland with some very nice spec and was simply a monster.

All of the spec was taken of her and a standard engine was put in.
That makes me a little bit sad to be honest...ah well...

I also got this picture, thats how she arrived coming from Japan. She was in the 88 Drift team :

I love the picture, pretty cool right?

Lets see how she looks like when I'm finished with her!

bolts and nuts replacement

I really love the idea to replace all the bolts and nuts on the car.

I'm currently looking into possibilites and try to figure out what the best way would be!

At some point I also want to rebuild the engine (not this year though), so either I do the replacement now or when the rebuild will be done.

Decisions, decisions....

new Update

Here a few more pics finally!

Love doing the before and after pics and as I was bored I tried to clean the engine bay and the front a lil bit.
Also new goodies and a nice snapshot during the sunset...loved the light :)

3 months plan

It's been a while since I last posted. But nothing is going on really.
I get stuff almost every month for the car and dream about having my S14 back on the road.
I come across so many ideas and visions in my head, that I never seem to be able to finally decide for what design/look/power I'm going for.

Especially after Gatebil!
Yeah....thats right, I was in Norway for the coolest car festival ever!
So many crazy cars and projects over there!
After the spin in a 600+ Mustang (that sound!!!) I want more power too ha. It was amazing to be in a drift train with the Forumla D driver Voughn Gittin JR. Man i still cant believe how lucky I was!
The car I was sitting in was driven by a Saudi Arabian guy :)

But last weekend I once more spent loads of time in the unit to think about what I'm going to do (besides cleaning up and talking to my baby haha)

I've came up with something new and decided following:
Every 3 months, I'm going to set a few goals for the car and I also try to archieve them.
That worked best for me last year when I set myself goals for my drifting proccess.
Not too much pressure and still time to get stuff done.

So my new 3 months-plan focuses only on the engine and engine bay.
I'm gonig to tidy it up, replace parts, clean shit up and see what else is needed. The engine bay itself needs no respray as she is still very clean and mint, so I'll focus on the engine and all the parts an wires now.
I already started to take more parts off to see where what is located and that I can say to 100%: I know every single bolt in my car.

Anyway, the next 3 months you will hopefully read more here and lets see how it goes :)

Tuesday 23 April 2013

more work done

Last Saturday I spent around 5 hours in the unit. Most of the time I wasn't on my own, my other half cleaned his beamer and I worked on my car (shouldn't it be the other way around? just kidding haha).

It felt like I did loads, but it was just a little bit here and there which added up.
It looked like that though:

I also took out the rear lights to give them some nice clean up and polish. I might write an extra post for that. For all the drift-lads its probably very boring to see but most of all, I just want to keep track of what I do. I love to go into details and discover every sinlge inch of my car. I want to know her to 100% and as I'm a girl and no mechanic, I just love to learn and discover my aswesome car <3.

So, I only got a few pictures actually.
I gave the hydro handbrake a bit of a paint, removed a bit of rust (nothing special but the cheap Halford rust remover is really cool) and I had to crawl into the boot! (it was funny as there is not much space haha)
The boot lock always snaps, it is weird and not like it should be.
I already noticed that during my track days. The boot would always jump open, funny to drift with an open boot :P

So another thing on the list.
And I actually created a list which already contains over 30 things left to do.
I love my project, never gets boring :)

Monday 22 April 2013

new goodies

Should look sweet :D

And got this yesterday in Mondello (IDC)

pipes and intercooler polished

Finally :)

I got great help (thanks again Ronan) and that is how my pipes and intercooler look like now!
The machine polishing makes some difference!

Backwards entry by James Deane

This guy is an inspiration to me.
He once was one of the instructors back in 2011 when I did the Prodrift Academy Level 1 course.

Since I saw him drifting live, I just wanna do the same. It seems like he melts with his car, I love this! One of the many awesome drives I love to watch!

One thing I always said...one day I do the same...a backwards entry.
So watch out, sometimes you will see ME like this.

Epic short video, just have to show you this :)

more cleaning

I was spontaneously up in the unit again and decided to do more cleaning.
Just felt like it, must be the sun and spring feelings ha!

I cleaned all of the intercooler pipes so now there is only the intercooler left.
I'm thinking about getting a new one to be honest, but i'll see :)

My drift-baby is actually still very dirty from the last track day, it really bothers me...
As I cant move her outside for a wash now, I decided to clean and polish her bit for bit.
I'm not a patient person, especially if it comes to detailing or polishing a car.
But I kinda liked the thought to only do a bit of it and another bit the next time, so I started off with the left wing :) I also removed a few scratches.

Look how it turned out!

Friday 15 March 2013

bit of a polish anyone?

Haven't had too much time the last few days, so I only did a bit of a cleaning.
I gave the stud brace a bit of a polish and removed rust:

I also tried to give one of the intercooler pipes a good clean but I'm not too happy with the result. I guess it needs a proper polishing :(

Thats it so far :)

What happened in February

Right, so now the most recent updates.
I have many plans and I basically just started to take everything in the engine bay appart.
I wanna know my car 100%, so I just take stuff apart and put it back together.
Its kinda fun and I really like doing it ha.

As I now have the intercooler, intercooler-pipes, stud brace and the slam panel off, I started working on these parts. Its just small stuff but I love doing it and hopefully it will be worth it.

The slam panel looked pretty bad, so with the help of my boyfriend, it looks like this and is ready to get sprayed:

I'm also after cleaning and polishing the pipes and stud brace.
I haven't had much time, so thats just a little part I tried polishing.
Looks way better in real, kinda hard to take the pics with only a phone cam:

I also got a turbo timer and new blow off valve. The side skirts were sent off to get repaired and ready for paint.

My next plans are:

- ) Getting bumper, side skirts and slam panel resprayed
- ) finish cleaning the pars
- ) replace all nuts and bolts i took off
- ) having a look for new Samco hose parts

What happened 2012

2012 was a special year for me.
I decided to turn my car into a track-car so that I can legally drift her.
To be honest...as many do...I also risked it and did rings or a few slides on the road.

As drifting is FUN for me, and not being stressed out because I dont wanna get caught....I decided to end this and go only drifting on tracks.

Of course motorsport can be a bit expensive, but I told myself: In case the world really ends 2012, I dont wanna die with money in my pocket ha.
Decision made so: 2012 is going to be MY drift year!

I set myself a few goals towards the end of the year, and I reached them all. I'm very happy and my passion for drifting and my own drift car just became bigger and bigger.

Here is a few pictures from almost everytrack-day I did.
It was always in Watergrasshill, Cork or Tynagh, Galway.

Enjoy :)
